Datsun radiators are made of several tiny, flat tubes that have coolant passing through them, dissipating the heat from the engine. Those tubes, called fins, are made of very thin metal, usually aluminum, brass, or copper and are prone to damage from corrosion or pressure stress. Extreme weather conditions and age of the radiator are the two biggest villains when it comes to leaks and cracks, and Datsun radiators are especially vulnerable because of their age. If you are having problems with your Datsun Radiator, check the fan and the shrouds to make sure there aren't any obstructions. If everything in your cooling system looks normal, you probably have a pinhole leak and need an OE style or aftermarket replacement part. Some older vehicles can be 're-cored,' which means the network of these flat tubes is replaced but the tanks and shrouding is not. This can sometimes cost a little less than buying a brand new radiator, but is likely to fail again within the year.
