Then the Dodge Royal Monaco was introduced in 1975, which was based on the C body platform of the original Dodge Monaco. In 1976, the Dodge Royal Monaco became Dodge's full-size luxury trim offering while the original Dodge Monaco was reduced in size to become the mid-size replacement to the Dodge Coronet. 1978 saw the end of the entire Dodge Monaco lineup. The Dodge Monaco reappeared again in 1990 but as a completely different vehicle. It was actually produced as a version of the Eagle Premier but with some distinctive styling changes. The model was sold only until 1992, when the Dodge Intrepid replaced it.
