The first sign of any cooling system issue on a Land Rover is usually the low coolant level sensor. If instead, the temperature gauge rises, the temperature sender probably needs replacing, or less likely, there is a genuine problem with the radiator fins being clogged up with debris. Most of these problems can be avoided by replacing all hoses and belts routinely. This includes even the smallest hoses that don't generally come in hose kits. In addition, you should also replace the heater core around 100,000 miles, especially on models that were released prior to 1990.
