Originally based on a 1983 Canadian model, the Caravelle migrated to the U.S. in '85. It was almost a carbon copy of the Dodge 600 and was eventually replaced by the Acclaim. The Caravelle was introduced for the 1978 model year as an alternate version of the Dodge Diplomat for Canadian Chrysler-Plymouth dealers. As it were, only the "high end" LeBaron was sold in Canada and the Caravelle did not offer the "top line" models.
