Rally Car Radiator and Cooling System at Radiator.com

There is nothing worse than an overheating engine. This Radiator.com video demonstrates the importance of the cooling system in any automobile, but specifically in a rally car. Red Bull Skoda's Team Director Armin Schwarz goes over each component of the radiator and explains how the radiator fins of the cooling system work to cool the heated antifreeze from the hot engine. As hot coolant flows through the cooling system, air streams through the radiator fins to cool the antifreeze. The coolant then exits the radiator and recirculates through the engine, absorbing the heat. The radiator?s main job is to make sure you have a cool engine.

If your radiator is not working properly, your engine could be in big trouble. It is very important to keep the radiator fins clean and free of debris so the air can flow through them, cooling the antifreeze. This is a challenge in rally cars, because many rally cars race through tough environmental conditions. Whether it?s dirt or snow, environmental elements can get packed into your cooling system and cause your radiator to become ineffective, creating a hot engine. If this happens, an overheating radiator could be detrimental to your engine.

If a hole in radiator causes an overheating engine, your car could stop working. If a rally car experiences an overheating radiator during a race because of a radiator hole, they must take any precautions necessary to temporarily fix the hole in radiator. If the driver can manage to patch the hole, the driver can get the car back to replace radiator parts necessary to get the rally car working again and maintain a cool engine.
